No ads in sidebar
Pinned CompletedHi. Ads aren't showing in my sidebar. It was a sticky sidebar, so I removed the code so that it's no longer sticky, but that hasn't helped.
Also, in the process of trying to get sidebar ads to work, I clicked the add script button again (after ads were already running for a few days). Will doing it twice cause issues?
Thanks.

HI Rachel,
same thing, I have elementor sidebar, and it would be great to keep the sticky option due to the return button on our recipe blog, I changed the lower part to grid. Could you check it as well?
Ps. for an elementor workaround, should i create a new ticket?
Thanks

Michael Mlynek You can send over an example URL, but we can't place a sidebar ad if any element of the sidebar is sticky. We also don't recommend using page builders since they aren't compatible with Journey ads typically, which you can read more about here.
Thanks!

Michael Mlynek the sidebar is sticky, so we wouldn't be able to place a sidebar ad here since it'd overlap with the sidebar and cause display issues. We only place the sidebar ad on static sidebars that don't stick as the user scrolls.
It looks like that linked post was asking if Mediavine was compatible with Elementor. Mediavine has more customization options and a different type of support offering than Journey, so there's more options to make ads work correctly. Journey is self-supported by the forum though and doesn't guarantee compatibility with page builders - often they're just incompatible with the way the script works. Regardless of what service you use though, we never recommend page builders for post content since it will almost always lead to lower ad performance.
Hope this helps!

Thanks so much, will change the side bar, and see how much will work when switching back to wordpress.
If I do switch to tthe regular editor, (sorry for hijacking this topic) : what are the rules where the script places its ads? Or what should one do to keep chunks texts not being separated?
-Sidebar updated

Michael Mlynek you can get an idea of what the HTML should look like in the post linked above if you're using the WordPress editor. The rule of thumb is to have a unique parent selector the script can target and for all of the post content (paragraphs, images, headings, etc) to be directly under the parent element instead of nested within group blocks/rows. Usually this happens by default when you use the WordPress editor without grouping any blocks or rows and the script can easily place ads. You would just need to post in the Missing Ads → Theme Change category if you do move away from Elementor so that we can have the script recrawl your site.

Hello Rachel! I have the same issue. I just removed the stickyness of the sidebar and increased its width to 300 pixels but the sidebar ads arent showing up. Can u please help me?
And I have one other issue but its not about sidebar ads. I just added an infinity load for my posts and after publishing this new addon to my website I get a large white space after the first article and the first infinity loaded article. between the second and the 3rd is no space which is right. and so on. I have my main article and 4 more aticles loading in when users scroll down. I inspected this “white space” and it has a grow id name with a min height of 418px which is large, especially on mobile. This problem occured after enabling the infinity load plugin for my posts. Can I just adjust the min height via css or will it cause other problems? maybe you can help me out with this question too.
Thank you very much!
Best regards Viktor

Hello Rachel. i just updated my question ^^:
the url is: Home - Newsflare24

Viktor Büchert I believe this space is coming from the recommended content widget, which you can disable under Grow Settings in your Grow dashboard.
For the sidebar ad, since you're using Elementor, you need to ensure the sidebar element is set to display:block. Otherwise the ad will show at the bottom of the post or be pushed off to the side of the screen. You can get more information about this in this thread.
You'll also want to add a unique class to the sidebar for our script to target such as .journey-sidebar-class, because right now there isn't a unique element it can target an ad on.
Thanks!

Hey Rachel! Thank you for the quick reply. I just changed the container display to block and added a CSS class to it. Do I need to add this CSS class to the grow ad script or is it done automatically?
Regarding the white space: I guess I need to wait a couple of days until grow sets up this feature properly on my site. Dont want to turn it off yet.
Thank you very much!
Viktor

Hi Support , thanks for the help previously - ads have now appeared on the article pages. One more request, as we noticed ads sidebar/in-page ads are not appearing on our restaurant profile pages, for example: https://zendine.co/yururi/. The restaurant profiles also have translation pages in different languages on the top-right drop down. Thank you!

Veronica Lobanov done! Please keep in mind for the future though that if you use different templates for other pages, it's possible sidebar ads won't load if the underlying HTML is different, so you'll want to use the same templates moving forward if you want sidebar ads to appear.
Thanks!

Hi Rachel, is there any reason why an ad doesn't appear in my sidebar? I've checked and it's no sticky.

Heidi I had the script recrawl your site so you should see a sidebar ad now!
Also, if you need the sidebar ad retargeted in the future, you can post in this official thread for sidebar ad targeting.
Thanks!

Hello Journey Support Team. I'm on day 2. Very excited!
I believe I have the same problem with my sidebar ad being tucked away hidden as mentioned on this post:
https://journeymv.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/26517785749275/comments/28407440022043
But just thought I'd confirm. I need to somehow add the ‘display:block’ CSS?
thanks.

Hey Glenn VanLandingham - that's right! Adding a display:block style to your sidebar should do the trick. It looks like you're using elementor, which provides you with the tools to add custom CSS classes to elements on your posts. If you're looking for a little more assistance outside of this, I recommend connecting with Elementor directly.

Hi Ryan- thanks for this! spent a bunch of time today trying to fix this issue. I've added additional CSS to the sidebar with the display:block style multiple ways (the entire bloc, each element one by one). Seems not matter what I try, the ads still tuck away to the right.
I've reached out to Elementor support, and their suggestions haven't fixed it either. I'll keep working on this but if you have any other insights (maybe you can inspect some other CSS causing the problem), would really appreciate.
Thanks
Glenn

Hi, there are no ads in my sidebaror anywhere on desktop. I contacted you 20 days ago about changing the theme. You said it is all set, but no ads on sidebar or in posts on desktop. Could you check other features as well please

Marina Šestan - I checked over your site, and I'm seeing in-content and sidebar ad placements. You may want to double check using a separate browser, and make sure you're not running an ad-blocker plugins.

Hi Viktor Büchert , Thanks for letting us know! Our script just recrawled your site and your sticky sidebar ad should now be populating.

Hello! Thank you for the quick response. Right now I cannot see them but maybe they will be up there pretty soon. Btw I have 4 websites. Did your script recrawled all of them or only one website?
Best Regards
Viktor
