Journey ads by Mediavine has a lower minimum traffic requirement, but there are still quite a few standards to meet. You can learn more about what kinds of things we are evaluating for in this article, and you can learn more about what makes a great site here.
If you applied to serve ads with Journey by Mediavine but were not approved, here are some of the things that you can assess, work on, and in some instances, you can then reapply.
Brand Safety
Advertisers are looking to spend on brand safe content. If monetization with display and video ads is the goal with your site, we'd recommend creating content that falls within these brand-safe guidelines.
You can read a more in-depth breakdown of our Brand Safety policy here.
Non-Premium Traffic
Traffic from some countries monetizes at a higher rate than others. We evaluate your site’s traffic for many things to determine eligibility, and one of the metrics we look at are the countries of origin. Traffic from the US monetizes at the highest rate, but we do not require a certain amount of US traffic. We do require enough “premium” traffic to be sure your site is going to offer audiences that advertisers are interested in spending on.
Original, Quality Content
Advertisers are looking for engaged readers, and readers tend to be the most engaged when the content is original, high quality, and well-written. Be sure that your site is well-organized and easy to navigate. You should have an About page linked in the footer or in your main navigation. The actual content on your site should also be easy to find from the home page.
Can I reapply?
This is not a comprehensive list of reasons your site can be rejected, but these are the most common reasons, and many of these things can be fixed! If your site was rejected, we encourage you to take a dive into your own analytics, continue to grow your audience, and adjust where you can.
Things like non-premium traffic can be difficult to shift, but you CAN edit content for brand safety, you CAN continue to grow, and you CAN edit for the quality of your content.
We’d encourage you to read through our articles and guides, apply Grow features in a way that will grow your traffic, and circle back at a later date.
