As the site owner, you're going to get more of these Grow placeholder ads because you're on the site more often than your readers and run out of premium impressions faster. This is totally normal though, and can even happen in an incognito window, but it doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong or something isn't working.

In other words, you'll be served these ads if ad spend is low for you, but that doesn't mean that anything is broken or not working correctly. Ad spend could be low due to how often you visit the site, your location, detected cookies, and a host of other factors. So seeing the Grow placeholders isn't uncommon given the nature of programmatic advertising.

Rachel– you're the best! Thank you for your patience with all my beginner questions.

I obviously have not a clue. But it's all so fun and new.

Thank you!! I hope you have a great weekend. Adventure awaits you and your Ford Explorer from Smithfield. haha Love it.

    Hi Matt,
How it's going now, I got an invitation today and placed journey ads through the WP plugin, But 95% of visitors are seeing “Get Grow Today”.
My site uses Microsoft Clarity so I can say it confidently.
Is this happening because of the First day?

Idk about others but for me it's been 2 weeks my users still see that. Tried asking but my question never got approved!

TechCracked I spent some time on your site and I'm seeing a variety of different ads from different advertisers.

Outside of these I also was served ads for Toyota, Petsmart, and a local grocery store chain. On occasion, readers might still run into those Grow ads, but they should start seeing a wider inventory now.

Thanks for the update! Does it also depend on geography as I can see some region see Ads and some don't.

TechCracked Yes, geography can definitely be a factor when it comes to ad fill!

Deepak Yadav , How is it going? Yes, eventually I stopped seeing the “Get Grow Today” placeholder. It might pop up on my computer only on a very rare occasion. I'm about 2 months in and things are looking great!

And one last thing, my website runs on blogger and not on wordpress, does that make a difference?

TechCracked No, it shouldn't make a difference what platform you're using for your website.

two things I want to add to the “Want Fewer ADs Like this one”

    1) Brand new created POSTs have these banners all over the post (  “Want Fewer ADs Like this one”

    2) I have visited other users sites , who have started out with Journey / Grow', and had concerns about the banners, and I saw them also and their site. I was not presented with an REAL ads, just the “Want Fewer ADs Like this one”

Hi ramon negron ! It's normal to be served the Grow ads based on a number of factors, whether on a new post or old post, and it doesn't mean things aren't working correctly. From the above comment:

“You'll be served these ads if ad spend is low for you, but that doesn't mean that anything is broken or not working correctly. Hi there! Super new to Journey and I’m excited as I’ve heard so many great things about Mediavine. Question. I do see ads running on my iPhone but I don’t see them on my pc. Do I need to activate something in order to see ads run on my computer?

Hi Angela Duffy - I just checked a few different posts on your site on my computer, and I'm seeing ads load in. If you haven't, you may want to try clearing your browser cache, or accessing your site through a new incognito browser window.

    Thanks!

Even after the site got approval from the mediavine journey platform on October 29, today is November 5, ads are not showing on my site. When I open my site from PC or smartphone, instead of ads, I only see the promotional banner of mediavine journey in the middle of the content, whereas other ads should be visible in the content.

    Dear Team,

My site got Journey Ads approved on 9/24. Since then I'm seeing the same kind of “Grow's fewer ads”. I understand the reason after reading this post. However I don't see any video ads displaying on my site. Is it normal that I can't see but my viewers see them?

Or is there something that I need to enable for video ads?

    Hi Journey team,

I was accepted into Journey by Mediavine about a month ago, and I wanted to ask for guidance to understand whether what I’m seeing is still part of the normal learning phase or if something might need to be reviewed on my site.

For the past month, the vast majority of ads shown on my site have been Journey/Grow house ads, specifically the “Want Fewer Ads Like This? Get Grow” creatives. I do occasionally see other ads, but they are very rare. Because of this, my RPM has consistently stayed below $1 and hasn’t shown any meaningful upward movement.

Some context about my setup and traffic:

    • The site has steady traffic, with around 70–75% coming from the UK and US
    • Ads are loading correctly on scroll, so the script itself appears to be working
    • I understand that ads do not show while logged into WordPress, and I am checking while logged out
    • My sidebar is not sticky (theme-level sticky sidebar is disabled), and the sidebar is 300px+ wide
    • I’m aware of the initial learning phase and expected some house ads early on, but I wanted to confirm whether seeing mostly Grow ads for this long is still considered normal

I’ve read that demand can take time to open up, especially for newer sites, but I wanted to check if:

    • There’s anything on my end that could be limiting demand
    • Or if this is simply a case of the learning phase taking longer and I should continue waiting

Any insight into what’s typical at this stage, or if my site should be reviewed from a demand perspective, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help.
