No ads in sidebar
Pinned CompletedHi. Ads aren't showing in my sidebar. It was a sticky sidebar, so I removed the code so that it's no longer sticky, but that hasn't helped.
Also, in the process of trying to get sidebar ads to work, I clicked the add script button again (after ads were already running for a few days). Will doing it twice cause issues?
Thanks.

Now that the sticky sidebar feature has been disabled, the script was able to add a sidebar ad to your site. And clicking the add script button a second time shouldn't cause any issues :)
Also, it can take time for the script to automate ad placements after launching, so we recommend waiting a day or so for sidebar and content ad placements to be fully optimized and load on the site if you don't see them initially.

Woo hoo!

I have the same issue, no ads in sidebar.

Hi Kash! Thanks for reaching out -- you should now be seeing a sidebar ad on your site.

Awesome, thank you, Rachel.

Hi Support , I have the exact same issue and circumstances as OP.
And for some reason, I can't make ?test=houseads test run properly. Could you please take a look at my site and confirm that it runs a sidebar ad and video pop-up ad properly?
Thanks

Hi there! You should be seeing the sidebar ad now. For Journey, you'll want to use ?test=placeholders to test ad placements, but the video ad isn't connected to any placeholder queries and won't necessarily load in when using one. I checked the site though and confirmed the video ad is loading on our end and everything is working correctly, so nothing to worry about there!

Thank you so much, Rachel, for being so helpful and quick on top of that! You rock! :)

Hello, I am facing the same problem. No sidebar ads and some pages lack in-page ads.

Hey Cederic! I checked over a handful of posts on your site, and I'm seeing in-content ads across most of the top posts we're seeing. It also looks like there isn't a place for Journey to place Sidebar ads, which is why you're not seeing them. It's also important to note that depending on the layout or the underlying HTML markup of a page, Journey will not be able to place ads.

Thank you for the quick response. I will add a custom CSS code to add a sidebar and optimize the HTML markup to see what triggers ad-formats.

How many sidebar ads will script load? Is it limited to only one?
0 -
Matt Perry that's correct! The script will only place one sidebar ad because we've found having just one sticky sidebar ad is best for overall ad viewability and performance.

Are there any plans to enable sidebar ad on the homepage?

Peter M. We see a sidebar ad on your homepage on our end - you can verify this ad placement by adding ?test=placeholders to the end of the homepage URL and refreshing the page. This will place a Grow placeholder ad where that ad placement is targeted. It's likely you're not always being served this ad placement just due to running out of premium impressions since you're on the site more than a typical reader.

“We see a sidebar ad on your homepage on our end”
Yeah, cuz I have redirected my homepage into post. That's the only way to get sidebar and in-content ads. I'm still waiting to see how that's gonna impact my Google rankings …
From what I have seen other publishers don't get those ads on their homepages either, so it's not just me.

Peter M. My apologies! We actually don't place sidebar ads on homepages at this point in time since we found it could cause display issues. We appreciate the feedback though and will pass it along!

I have removed the sticky functionality of my sidebar too, kindly add the sidebar ads too on my website.

Hi Rachel, the sidebar ad is indeed now showing, however it isn’t sticky. Is there anything I need to do? The sidebar is just a regular sidebar as far as I can tell.Thank you.

Hi LJ ! I took a look and I'm seeing the sidebar ad stick:

It's possible you were served a bad ad, but on my end everything is working as expected!

Hi Rachel, can you also take a look at my site? No ads are showing up on the sidebar on post pages. Thanks!

Hi cesc34 ! In this case, it looks like an ad isn't being targeted because of how the post format is built with Elementor. The sidebar and the elements within the sidebar all have the CSS rule of display:flex, which will cause the sidebar ad to load to the right of the sidebar and be partially cut off. To get the sidebar ad on the site, you would need to change these elements styles to display:block instead of display:flex to ensure the sidebar ad remains within the sidebar container.
Here's an article from Elementor on where you can add custom CSS, but it's possible you'd need to contact their support team for assistance or have someone handy with CSS change these CSS rules from display:flex to display:block.
Hope this helps!

Hey, Rachel! It has been two days since I disabled the sticky sidebar functionality as you suggested. However, I don't see any sidebar ads loading. Can you please check?

Hi CV ! Thanks for letting us know - you should be seeing the sidebar ad now.

Thanks, Rachel! It's working now!

Hi Support I updated my site to use Gutenberg from Elementor now. Now, I still don;t see the sidebar ads and even the ads within the post content have gone away.

Hi cesc34 ! The site looks great! It can take time for the script to automate following a theme change, but you should be seeing content and sidebar ads now.
