When it comes to ad density- If this is your first experience with ads on your site we do understand that it can take some getting used to.

Here are a few things you should know:After ads are initially set live, it can take several hours for targeting and placements to be accurate. If things look like they are breaking up elements or are just not quite right, give it time and they should be better placed after a bit.

Journey ads by Mediavine adhere to CBA guidelines. In short, these guidelines ensure the ads serving on your site are meeting Better Ads standards. With in-content ads that means that AT MOST you'll have a ratio of 70% content to 30% ads. We use a "2-paragraph" default for spacing. "Paragraphs" in this case are any HTML elements (think Heading, Image, Lists, and blocks of text) which means that in-content ads should be 2 elements apart. Mediavine Ad Management uses the same logic, and it has always been well-received!

    Hi Karla,

Thanks for getting back to me! This is good to know. There seems to be ads every third paragraph for me starting right at the top of posts and ads on my homepage. Do you think this will be tweaked? I'm concerned about the volume of ads being off-putting to readers.

Thanks Karla! I did clear the cache like you suggested. It seems alright on desktop but the mobile version seems like a lot. For example this post https://www.sheroamsabout.com/grutas-tolantongo/

There are two ads in the intro, one right after table of contents and then continuing on from there. Does this post look like you'd expect?

    Thanks!

Hi Support I'm also having a problem with ad density and spacing! This is a screenshot of my blog post page (where my blogs are listed) and the ads are taking over and all advertisting for the same thing within a couple of spaces. Is this usual for the pages too and not just the posts?

Lita I'm having the same issue with mostly the same ads. I think that's part of what's making it feel so overwhelming. And I have them showing up on my pages too. They were originally on my homepage too but it looks like Karla took care of that.

Hey Lita this has been fixed for you, our ad technology just needed time to target!! But yes- you may see some of the same ads, especially as advertisers are learning to spend on your site. Just remember with programmatic ads- that what you see isn't what your readers see! We'll have help articles explaining that here soon too!

Support can we please lower the ad density? My site speed has dropped significantly (a reader brought this to my attention) and many of my posts are seeing 40+ ads per page plus corner video and footer including for things like gambling. This is particularly overwhelming on mobile.

    Hello Karla,

Can you please lower the ad density on my site on mobile.  Desktop seems to be reasonable.  But on mobile, the ads are overwhelming.  I have also heard from several readers that they are shocked how many are on my site and this worries me.

I have grouped blocks and have cleared my cache.

I appreciate your help in this matter.

    Hi Karla,

Sorry, I didn't link my site:  https://debsdailydish.com .  My concern is with density of mobile ads specifically. And most importantly, there is a video ad that is on both the homepage and individual posts.  It is very difficult to X out of and covers the content.  Can it either be removed or placed on the sidebar so it is not so intrusive?

    Thank you so much!

Hi Karla, could you also lower the ad density on my mobile site as well? I also have articles with two ads in the intro and ads disrupting how our homepage looks on mobile. Most of our articles are list style and the density of ads feels like its detracting from the user experience specifically on mobile, which is really important to us as we build a very local community brand. I have another site on Mediavine so this isn't my first experience with ads on a site. Thanks so much for any help.

Hey Debra Belsha , Elizabeth, just a note that I pinned up at the top here--  at this time, there we don't have ad density settings to change for you, as it's universally the same throughout all Journey sites.

I’m also concerned about ad density. I see 30-40 same exact ads on every post. It shows very repeatedly and I’m afraid my viewers are leaving quicker due to the experience.

Is it a temporary thing that could be fixed in the future if I leave it? It not, I’d like to cut off the amount.

Hey Aya Caliva  – Ad spend takes time to “ramp up” as advertisers learn about your audience. This can impact things like fill rate and CPM in the beginning, and with smaller sites that have a lower volume of overall traffic, it typically takes longer for advertisers to learn.

This is likely why you're seeing the same ad in multiple spaces on your site- this should shake out!

Hey can I jump on this too. Many of our readers have told us that our ads on mobile are overwhelming and very off putting. This is to the point that all initial social media comments are about how many ads the site has. Can the ad load be reduced? On desktop it looks ok but on mobile they are oppressive. www.adventuresofjellie.com

Thanks for any help you can give!

Is there any way to change the  "2-paragraph" default for spacing the ads?

It's make me crazy the HUGE amount of ads in my articles. I mean, for the readers perspective, there is an ad, an image, and an ad again (because between an image and an ad there is a space, but obviously is invisible).

    Help.

I am going to the trouble to group blocks to prevent ads from being placed there and they are being placed there anyway. Where do I reach out to correct this?
