Hi Stephanie Woods - thanks for reaching out! Your Journey dashboard pulls data from the Google Analytics account you have connected to your dashboard.

If there are some discrepancies you're seeing between Google Analytics and another data source, I recommend connecting with either your host to look into if the Siteground Analytics are accurate or connecting with a Google Analytics expert to have them take a look at how Google Analytics is set up on your site.

If any other community members have had a similar issue before,  I'll leave this thread open so they can chime in with their thoughts.

Thank you. I will contact Siteground and Google to try to determine the problem. I also checked Pinterest on one post, and it shows 633 outbound clicks to my post, but Journey shows 93. I do believe it is something with G4, but neither my web developer nor I can determine the problem.   The issue started when I connected G4 as tech support suggested.  Will it mess anything up on my GROW analytics if I remove G4 and go back to the regular script that I had in the beginning?

Thank you so much for any assistance you can give me.

Sounds great, Stephanie Woods ! I'm sorry to hear about the issues you've been having with your Google Analtyics account.

We currently do not offer a method to switch back from Google Analytics to Grow Analytics after the initial switch. Removing your Google Analytics script from your site would cause your site to report zero sessions on your Journey Dashboard.

It's very common for Ad networks (including Mediavine) to use Google Analytics as the only analytics source when applying for ads, so it may be a good idea to ensure this is accurate if you're considering other ad networks in the future.

Thank you so much for reaching back out.  I've been researching the difference between GA4 and UA(Google Analytics).  They definitely count sessions or events differently, which I believe is the reason my earnings took a hit when I connected GA4.  I think it will eventually come back up;  it's just learning the site all over again. Somewhat frustrating, but I agree with you that GA4 is the future, so we might as well take the hit and switch now rather than later.

Thank you for your assistance again.

Not a problem! One important detail that I wanted to clarify is that your session data from Google Analytics or Grow Analytics isn't what Journey uses when calculating revenue. Instead, impression data from the Journey script itself is used.

This means that even in a case where analytics was missing, earnings would still be accurate for any given day.

Thank you so much for clarifying that for me.  I didn't realize that.  I thought the impressions and sessions were linked together so that makes me feel better!

Journey is Self Supported

Our support staff is monitoring this forum everyday for bugs related to ad delivery, the display and functionality of the Journey dashboard, and any bugs related to the onboarding process. We are typically unable to assist with non-bug related issues like RPM performance expectations, issues setting up the ads.txt file, and questions already answered by our existing help docs. Read here for a more detailed breakdown of how Journey is self-supported and our recommendations for how to find answers to common issues.
