Is there a metric that hints at potential?
We have been with journey for 10 days now and seeing very low earnings compared to another Ad program we used before Journey.
I realize there is the “ramp up” period but in comparison to pre Journey days, we have very little earnings.
I thought by now we would see earnings in dollar amounts rather than pennies per day.
Is there a metric (RPM, Session RPM, Pageview RPM, CPM,) that might give some sort of potential (HOPE) for future earnings?

There's always a bit of a “ramp-up” period (click here to learn more) whenever you join a new ad management company. It can take some time for our advertisers to learn about your site and how they want to spend on it. The "ramp-up" period is pretty diverse depending on a ton of different factors and varies from site to site so there isn't a specific amount of time but 10 days is definitely still in the thick of things ramp-up-wise.
The start of Q1/January is also going to have a heavy hand in earnings. We made a post about that here.
I wouldn't really say there is one particular metric to focus on over another but I will say that RPM isn't the rate that you earn - Impressions and CPM have far more sway on how much you earn at the end of the day.
Your CPMs are based on a few different things, like keywords used within the post, demographics of users reading them, countries they’re browsing from, device types, traffic sources, and the engagement of your readers. CPMs are a bit harder to control but they are an important number to keep an eye on.
The next best thing to do is to make sure there aren't any conflicts with your Journey script and that your posts are as optimized as possible0
