RPM Dropping Despite Increasing Page Sessions
Hi ,
I was accepted into Journey on November 11th, and my RPM was steadily rising, staying around $25 for about three weeks. However, on December 16th, it dropped to $10, and since then, it has been decreasing—yesterday it was as low as $7.
What’s confusing is that my page sessions are actually increasing, and most of my audience is from the USA. One thing I did recently was adjust my cache settings to troubleshoot an issue with my homepage, but I’m unsure if that could have caused the drop.
Has anyone else experienced something similar or have insights into what might be causing this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey all! I wanted to jump in here to provide some context. It is normal to see RPMs drop significantly at the beginning of the year-- with some sites having an RPM drop of 40-60% in January.
This is because with the new year comes a budget reset for many advertisers (with the rest happening in July - there will be another big drop around then just to give everyone a heads up!), with spending dropping as advertisers adjust their budgets for higher-demand months (like November and December) or holidays when consumers are known to spend more.
In general, November tends to be a much higher-performing month in terms of ad spend and RPMs - especially in an election year. A lot of Q4 spend was pushed ahead of the election in November. Because of this, a lot of brands have decided to wait and see what happens with the economy and maybe defer some of their spending to later months. This is a cycle we have seen in many presidential election years and even without an election year - RPMs and ad spend typically take a nose dive in January at the start of Q1 and a new year.
As we move further into the month and year, you'll see spend and RPM increasing along with the year.
The best thing to do is to make sure there aren't any conflicts with your Journey script and that your posts are as optimized as possible.

I have also experienced this sudden drop in RPM to very mediocre figures. I know it's January but clearly an RPM of $2 should not make any sense anywhere. Please support address this ASAP! John ,cc others

I am also experiencing the same. My website rpm was around $27 from November to early December; then within a week or two, it nose-dived to $7 currently. Its so sad to see, the drop was so fast, didn't expect this kind of drop. Will also like to get some advice on the next action to take.

Loraine Lee - Just a heads up - I'm seeing a double script wrapper on Picasso Prompts. This can impact performance so you'll want to make sure you have one of those removed.

If you can't do this on your end, please guide me on how to resolve this ASAP. My RPM hanging around 1$ is so painful. I will appreciate your prompt feedback. Thanks

Hi Loraine Lee ! This would have to be done in your WordPress admin. Usually the script is added by the Grow plugin or by manually adding the script in a code insertion plugin or theme setting that allows you to add scripts.
If you're using the Grow plugin already to add the ad script, then you'll want to just look through any code insertion plugins or theme settings that let you add scripts and remove the second script. Your host should also be able to assist with this since they would have access to your site if you give them the script. The script looks like the following - the “…” is where your unique ID for your site would be, and you can find the full script in your Grow dashboard under Journey settings → Ads Script → Copy Code:
<script async="async" data-noptimize="1" data-cfasync="false" src="https://scripts.scriptwrapper.com/tags/…..js id="mv-script-wrapper-js"></script>
If you need assistance, you can send that script to your host and they should be able to help locate and remove it.
Thanks!
