Fine-tuning ad placement
Hi,
I believe ads are placed after every two blocks on my site, but sometimes the placement isn’t ideal as it doesn’t account for the amount of text in a block. Here are a couple of issues I’ve noticed:
- Ads are sometimes placed between blocks where they disrupt the flow and may not be a good UX. For example:
"Explore More Delicious Skewers Recipes:
Ad placed here
- Chicken Skewers
- Grilled Chicken Kabobs
- Chicken Souvlaki
- Chicken Satay
In this case, the ad placement feels off. I think the script should take the text size into consideration as well.
2. I’ve also noticed that no ads appear between detailed recipe notes, even though they are fairly long. For instance, you can see this in the 'Chef’s Notes and Tips' section of this post: link.
Can you please take a look at these issues?

Hi Sangeetha
Ad placement is going to look a little different for everyone. Where you see ads isn't necessarily where your readers will see ads. We do abide by CBA standards when it comes to how many ads are served per post.
CBA guidelines ensure that ad content can not be more than 30% of the total page height and that's something our script normally factors in as well depending on your Ad Density settings. As for the Chef Notes and Tips, because of how it's placed in WPRM it's naturally wrapped in a DIV which keeps our script from placing ads. There isn't a way on our end for us to adjust that.
But in that same spirit, you can use <DIV></DIV> to block off any portions of your content that you don't want to be separated by ads.

Hi Mary,
Thanks for the response. I understand that MV abides by the CBA guidelines. However, I think it would be helpful if MV could account for ad density based on the selected settings in the dashboard. I have ad density set to low, but I’ve noticed there’s no difference between the low, standard, or optimal settings—each displays the same number of ads. This feels especially overwhelming since most of my posts are quite long.
I read that MV places ads after every two blocks, which may be ok for standard or optimal settings. For a low setting, though, adjusting it to every three blocks or so might create a better experience.
For the "Chef Notes and Tips" section, I'll check with WPRM to see if they can assist.
Additionally, as you know, it’s not feasible to manually add
<DIV></DIV>tags to hundreds of posts. Instead, I’d suggest considering paragraph size—if the word count is very low, placing an ad after that block might disrupt the user experience. Just my 2 cents. Thanks!

I reached out to WPRM, and here's their response: "The entire website consists of divs wrapping other divs.
Could they clarify what would need to change? They are the ones putting the ads on the page, so obviously they could change that on their end."Can you help specify exactly what changes you're looking for from them?

Hi Sangeetha ! Since that section is within the actual recipe card, there isn't a way to remove the <divs> surrounding the card or for us to place additional ad placements. The recipe card already is running the default recipe ad placements, which are best for viewability since they tend to be where your readers are (next to the ingredients and between instruction items). If you wanted ads to show in this specific section, you would need to move it into the body of the post content.
Thanks!

Honestly, I don’t think moving the notes section out of WPRM is a good idea from a user’s perspective. The notes are an important part of the recipe, and if I move them out, users won’t be able to include this section in their print version, which defeats its purpose.I reached out to WPRM, and here’s their response:
“I'm not sure if there's anything I can do from my end at this point. If they can let me know what to change or add to make this possible, I'd be happy to consider that.”
If you can provide any guidance, I’d be glad to work with them to address this on their end, if possible. I would also suggest exploring a solution from MV’s side.
Thanks!

Hi Sangeetha ! Since this section is within the WPRM recipe card, there isn't a way for WPRM to make it so it's within the post content and not wrapped inside of the recipe card <divs>. This section would only have ads load if it were in the actual post content, which is up to your discretion. We appreciate this feedback though, and will pass it along!

Hi Rachel Johnson ,
Like I mentioned, WPRM is open to feedback and suggestions from you to make this happen on their side as well. If you’re not planning any changes to the MV script, it would be great if you could suggest adjustments they could make to benefit all creators and the broader ecosystem, given how widely the plugin is used—a true win-win.

Sangeetha WPRM wouldn't be able to make this happen because the entire recipe card is wrapped inside of the WPRM recipe card template <div>, which they wouldn't be able to remove. The only current solution would be to have this section in the post content. We definitely hear the feedback, though!

Rachel Johnson Thanks.
It seems we’ve reached a dead end. Moving the tips out of the recipe card isn’t an option for me, as I believe it enhances user experience and allows users to print the notes section as well. I hope MV considers implementing this feedback in the near future - it would benefit creators, users, and MV alike.
