Massive traffic drop - is it possible to turn off ads temporarily?
Hi Team,
Since installing Journey ads about 6 weeks ago my traffic has steadily declined and I’m now down to about 50% of my previous traffic.
This is consistent on both Squarespace and Grow analytics.
Is it possible to turn ads off temporarily to see if the ads are the issue?
Any other advice would be very welcome.
My site is www.readysetgrownutrition.com
Thanks,
Skye

Hey Skye Swaney - I can jump in here.
I know you want to test disabling ads in an effort to regain some traffic that may have been lost after this most recent Google update. We've seen many publishers test this theory but the outcome typically plays out as they don't see an uptick in Google traffic and the publisher ends up losing out on earnings.
We are a Google Certified Publishing Partner and adhere strictly to all of their advertising policies and will always have our publisher’s success as our top priority. Algorithm updates have impacted a lot of publishers (those with and without ads).
We've done studies to confirm that ad density doesn't have any impact on Google's algorithm updates - we do everything we can to make sure our ads are helping your revenue, not hurting your traffic.
I'd recommend taking a look at where you're seeing a loss in traffic - for instance, did you have more social traffic this time last year? Are you seeing less organic/Google traffic? That way you can identify where you might need to put some extra attention.
Our best recommendation is to just keep writing quality content about a topic you're passionate about, and work on SEO whenever possible!
To temporarily turn off ads, you would just need to remove the Journey ad script from wherever you added it on your site if you added it manually. If you're using the Grow for WordPress plugin to add the ad script, you can paste the following URL into your browser while logged into WordPress:
yoursitename.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=grow-journey-disableand you'll see a setting to disable Journey.1
