Is there a way at a publisher's end to increase CPM?

    There are a number of things that can impact CPM (You can read more about that here.)

    One thing I did want to mention - I was snooping around your site a bit and it looks like the last article was published around mid-June. Advertisers prefer sites that are regularly updated with fresh content. This helps show that your site is active and engaging your audience.

    Sure. I will publish new content pieces in the coming days. May I ask why the CPM is in a declining mode? from $1.50 to $0.60?

    - Nearly 80% of my users are from the US; the majoring of the remaining are also from Tier-1 countries
    - The average engagement time has definitely improved compared to last month (because I have tripled the content length for all the top traffic-generating posts);
    - All of my content pieces are brand-safe; absolutely zero objectable content
    - Browsers, devices, and traffic sources remain the same as last month with a negligible difference.

    I wonder what could be attributed to the steady decline. I am curious to find the reason so that I can work on it. Please educate me. Looking forward for an actionable answer.

    Advertiser Spend is a bit hard to control since this is something that advertisers set and is often influenced by a multitude of factors like time of year, traffic (both how they get to your site and from where can mean earning at different rates), viewability, page speed, site quality, keywords, and content of posts, etc.

    Changes in CPM are expected as budgets from advertisers change with the season, economy, and your site itself-- even factors like the amount of authenticated traffic, the demographics of your readers, and the active campaigns they're looking to buy ad space for can impact how much advertisers spend.

    This makes exact pinpoints of changes in CPM hard, but I'd start by looking at top posts to see if the content that advertisers are paying higher for has changed-- if so this can help provide insight into potential topics that both advertisers and readers want to see more of on your site!

    I'd also recommend promoting posts that have a high CPM and traffic in your newsletters, socials, and in more prominent places on your homepage to draw more traffic to those posts that earn at a higher rate.

    Sure. I will implement the suggestions you have given, Mary. Thanks for your time.

Our support staff is monitoring this forum everyday for bugs related to ad delivery, the display and functionality of the Journey dashboard, and any bugs related to the onboarding process. We are typically unable to assist with non-bug related issues like RPM performance expectations, issues setting up the ads.txt file, and questions already answered by our existing help docs. Read here for a more detailed breakdown of how Journey is self-supported and our recommendations for how to find answers to common issues.
