Ad Density
AnsweredHello,
I touched on this in another thread, but wanted to more explicitly discuss ad density and potentially missed opportunities.
First, let me begin by saying I so appreciate the minimal code injection to programmatically place ads on my (Wordpress) site. It's way more efficient than the very heavy lift of Ezoic. However, I guess that automation comes at a cost early in Journey's, uh Journey, given the wide variety of sites and associated hooks to discover for placement.
My homepage is often my most visited page. However, while sidebar ads display on posts, they do not display on this page. Also there are no ads down the page between posts, whereas with Ezoic, I had used the Ad Inserter plugin to place an ad after post 2 & 6 (and Google Adsense does similar, automatically).
Comment threads are also devoid of ad units, which I view as content. With Ad Inserter, I'd place ads after Comments 3 and 10.
If at all possible over the coming weeks or months we could tighten that up, I'd feel better and think we'll both generate additional, incremental revenue. Thank you for receiving the feedback.

I see there's a newly deployed Ad Density setting. That should be helpful for many. Maybe my theme/concern is more ‘missed placements’ vs ‘ad density’

Hey DaveZ - I had this thread saved specifically for when I could officially let you know Ad Density is now a feature we offer!
You can read more about these settings here.
But I did want to touch on your mention of your homepage. In general, the homepage doesn't monetize as well as a post. Readers are looking for a post to jump to, so they don't spend as much time there. Not to mention there aren't as many ad placements on a homepage.
We recommend trying to drive traffic to well-optimized posts instead of the homepage whenever possible.
Also, the feedback about manual placements like ad inserter is good! I appreciate you taking the time to leave thoughtful feedback.
