GA prompting me for ad consent settings for Europe
CompletedHi there,
I’m new to running ads and have a few questions regarding the promptos from Google (below). Does Mediavine’s system handle ad regulations for Europe automatically? If not, what options should I select?
I’m asking because Google must have noticed the ads and is urging me to set things up. Since I’m based in Australia and aware that Europe might have stricter regulations, I want to ensure I’m doing everything correctly.
Thanks in advance for your help!
About consent mode
Consent mode allows you to send consent from end users in regions where consent regulations apply (such as end users in the EEA) to share their personal data with Google so that they can receive personalized ads and you can measure ad performance. It works by using your Google tags, which dynamically adapt to use cookies only when consent has been given by the user.
Consent mode also activates Google's conversion modeling, which fills in any gaps in conversions when observable data is not available. Learn more about consent mode

Which type of consent banner do you have?
A consent banner is a notification that shows up on a website. It informs users about their choices for sharing their personal data.
I use a consent banner from a third-party platform
A banner created by a Content Management System (CMS) or a Consent Management Platform (CMP)
I use a custom consent banner
A banner created by your organization
I don't have a consent banner

Hi Tanya Joslin ! The Journey CMP covers publishers 100% for the display advertising portion of GDPR. If you need to collect other consents you could need to use another consent service, but we can't advise on this since it's out of our scope.
Consent Mode V2 specifically though is specifically in relation to Google Marketing Platform advertising tools such as Google Ads and how they integrate with Google Analytics, and it's only required for sites using these marketing platforms. So Consent Mode isn't required for Journey ads or any programatic ads, it only has to do with the Google Marketing Platform services like Google Ads.
Google has a list of certified partners that support consent mode V2 here, but it doesn't ultimately have any bearing on actual ads on the site, so we're unable to advise on implementing Consent Mode.
Thanks!

Does Journey's consent banner also cover GDPR for analytics?

Hey Qin Xie - The Mediavine CMP covers publishers 100% for display advertising but doesn't cover sent for Google Analytics.
For the purposes of advertising, the Journey CMP collects consent for advertising cookies in the places it's currently required, but usage data for your analytics isn't related to our CMP and the display advertising consents that it covers- and accepting our CMP won't impact the consent or behavior of your analytics script.
