    Hey Bethany,

We work hard to ensure that the ads on all of our sites fall under a PG rating. These blocks are in place across the board with all of our ad partners but occasionally ads are miscategorized and manage to slip past our filters.

Since our ads are programmatic and rely on keywords, ads will vary depending on the reader's cookies. For instance, a vegan site may refer to "no meat" across various posts, and that might indicate to advertisers that "meat" is a good keyword. Likewise, readers may have search histories that have similar keywords signaling to advertisers that they are the right audience for meat product-related ads. Oftentimes times clearing the browser's cache can help with this.

We have received feedback for ad filtering and it's definitely on our radar but it's not something we currently offer. Rest assured, when I visited your site I was seeing ads for Huggies, Progressive, Dollar General, and Lowes which were all of a PG rating.

Adding on to this post since I have the same concern.

I'm also seeing Bluechew ads on trauma-related topics, especially for dissociative identity disorder, like on this post here.

Considering the last response from the Journey support team was 7 months ago and ad filtering still isn't offered, I daresay it's an important feature to have because the ads on a site have a way to affect that site's integrity and established trust with their readers.

I agree, Jane. I really wish they would listen to the community that's asking for filtering.

Journey is Self Supported

Our support staff is monitoring this forum everyday for bugs related to ad delivery, the display and functionality of the Journey dashboard, and any bugs related to the onboarding process. We are typically unable to assist with non-bug related issues like RPM performance expectations, issues setting up the ads.txt file, and questions already answered by our existing help docs. Read here for a more detailed breakdown of how Journey is self-supported and our recommendations for how to find answers to common issues.
