Impressions per session drop
Hello,
Is that normal that my impressions per session dropped from average 8-10 to barely 3 recently ? Looks like the rpm follows this trend so it's bit annoying for us.
What can cause that ?

Hi Lionel,
From a technical perspective, everything looks great. I did have one of our Journey Support Engineers take a look and your script is set and not being optimized.
I do see a drop in impressions around the end of July - the start of August.

We just started a new month, which comes with a partial ad spend reset. A dip in impressions is often due to reader behavior changes, changes in the top posts/pages, etc. Combine that with lower spend at the beginning of the month can cause your RPM to drop. (I saw you asked on another thread so I wanted to mention that here!)
I'd recommend taking a look at your top posts that have been trending and comparing them to your posts that were tending around the 27th (which was a good day for your site) and making sure they are as optimized as possible.
One thing I did notice when I was browsing your site is that you have an infinite scroll set up. Some infinite scroll plugins can wrap those additional posts in <div></div> tags, which prevents our script from targeting that content for ads. Not saying infinite scroll can't work but that is definitely something to keep in mind!

Hi Mary,
Thanks for your response!
The ads display correctly, and requests to the advertising partners seem to work well throughout the infinite scroll. If you could confirm this, it would be appreciated.
The major issue is the significant drop in ad impressions during this period, which should be your/our priority. Increasing ad impressions is crucial.
You mentioned that the infinite scroll might wrap additional posts in
<div></div>tags, preventing ad targeting. I noticed that the content from articles generated by infinite scroll isn't considered for keyword selection in ad requests made to the partners. It would improve user experience if the ads were contextually relevant to the specific article being loaded.
So should I change the<div>tags to<article>tags? Any class or id to add ? Ideally, there should be different keyword selections for ad requests for each new article loaded from the infinite scroll. Is this possible ? Email me if you need I am a developer and can easily fix it if you tell me a little bit what to do.Thank you for your assistance.
Best regards,

Hey Lionel - Just like Mediavine - Journey uses programmatic ads, which means the ads that your readers are seeing are based on their browsing history/cookies. Everyone is seeing different ads based on their own interest and what they have been searching online. So which ad serves is more specific to the reader as opposed to the site itself.
