Ads.txt Missing/Out-of-Date Error
CompletedHi I've received the error “Ads.txt Missing/Out-of-Date”
I've gone over the troubleshooting and everything looks okay on my end.
I'm using Wordpress but my grow plugin didn't give me the option to add the script so I did it manually.

Can you advise at all, please?
Thanks

Hi Charlotte,
The ads.txt file was recently updated, so it looks like the one on your site is just out of date. You'll want to grab the current ads.txt from the URL in your Journey settings and make sure the one on your site matches it exactly. Thanks!!

Hello,
My website is michaelvisitsall.com. I am having an issue with this ads.txt file. I downloaded the most recent file just now, uploaded the updated ads.txt file to my root folder on my web host, hit refresh, and I'm still getting this error that you're unable to verify the file.

Hi Michael DeFranceschi ! This could be a caching issue - could you clear all caching plugins, CDN caching if you use one (like Cloudflare), and your server side cache?
If that doesn't resolve the issue, you could have your host set up a redirect from yoursitename.com/ads.txt (replace yoursitename with your domain) to the ads.txt file URL in your Journey dashboard under Journey Settings → Ads.txt → Ads.txt URL. It will look like the following:
This way, you also wouldn't have to update the file manually every time there's an ads.txt update.

Hello,
I followed the directions below that Ryan sent me and I cant get the Ads.txt file verified.
Ryan has mentioned you in a comment on the post Ads.txt file not being recognized.
Hi Pacetalley - thanks for reaching out! Your Ezoic ads.txt file is hosted through adstxtmanager.com - to remove this, you'll need to log into to this tool, followed by toggling off ‘enable ads.txt’ from the settings menu.
Additionally, if you have the Ads.txt manager plugin installed on your site, you'll want to disable this plugin, followed by clearing out all sitewide, serverside, and any CDN caching in place.
After, you can follow the steps outlined in our help center to install your Journey Ads.txt file.
I'm going to close this thread because we have several open on the same topic, but if you have further questions you can refer to this existing thread. You can also refer to this help article.
Thank you!

Hi Pacetalley - I'm still seeing the redirect in place to your Ezoic ads.txt file - if you're continuing to have issues after disabling Ads.txt manager and removing the plugin from your site, I recommend connecting with your host to have them take a look at your .htaccess file to see if there's a 301 redirect in place, or if they're seeing any other issues on their end that could be causing the redirect.

Hello,
I am still seeing the ads.txt error after having Bigscoots replace the file for me, implementing the redirect as suggested above and clearing all site, serverside and Cloudflare cache. Could you advise?
Thanks,
Allison0 -
Hi Allison Campbell ! This would likely either have to do with caching or a firewall/security setting. I would check with BigScoots and have them check if they are running any security/firewall settings. They'll also want to make sure the MediavineMetadataParser user agent isn't being blocked in Cloudflare or server settings.

Thanks for your reply, Rachel! BigScoots was able to resolve this one; I appreciate your help.

Hi,
I've received the latest ads.txt file and updated it in my file manager like I have been doing for the past few months. For some reason, this time it's not being verified via the grow plugin.
I've contacted my hosting, they say the new ads.txt is added fine and nothing is blocking it their end.
I can see the new ads.txt using the testing URLS. I have also cached via WP Rocket.I haven't changed or updated anything on my end via WP.
Can you help at all?
Thanks :)

Hi! I've been having a similar issue with the Ads.Txt error this weekend. I initially updated the ads.txt when I saw the error (like i have been doing since I joined Journey), but this time this still didn't solve it. I then tried a redirect, which is working - but it still hasn't got rid of the error on my journey dashboard. Is this a glitch?

Hi Charlotte and Laurelin Wilkins ! There was an issue with some ads.txt files showing a false out of date status over the weekend, but it should now be resolved now if you go into your Journey settings in your dashboard and click the “Refresh” button above the Ads.txt section. Thanks!

I have added my Ads.txt file and cleared Cache, but it still shows that the file is missing.

Saranya Ramanathan It looks like there's a Mediavine ads.txt file on your site instead of a Journey ads.txt file. If you want to use a redirect, you need to take the URL directly from your Grow dashboard here:
It should have a string of numbers instead of the name of your site in the URL. That should get you set up.

Hi Rachel, I downloaded the Ads.Txt File from my Grow dashboard and gave the code to my web host. Do I give them the Ads.txt URL instead?

Hey Saranya Ramanathan - you can provide your host with the contents of the file, but something to keep in mind is that this file is constantly updated, so you may want to provide them with the URL instead so they can set up a redirect. In this case, you would want all traffic to your site's ads.txt domain (/ads.txt) to redirect to the URL of the ads.txt file we host for your site.
