Does using the Journey CMP replace our Cookies software?
Pinned AnsweredHello, I'm loving the Journey CMP that pops up and wanted to know for EU/UK publishers does this mean it replaces our existing cookies software banners? I want to ensure everything is set up as it should be with no duplicating or conflicting consents. Thank you :)

Hey Juliette! The Journey CMP would only cover consent for display advertising - any additional consent you may require to be compliant in the UK, EU, or anywhere else would require an additional consent banner or plugin.

I have a similar question and want to avoid having two cookie popups.
Can we manage advertising cookies from Journey in different CMP like Complianz?

Hi Wojciech Wysocki - We currently do not offer a way to provide display advertising consent outside of the Journey CMP. This means that you would need to run an additional CMP if any other consent is required.
Additionally, I wanted to let you know of an incompatibility with Complienz that's caused ads to stop displaying in the past. If you happen to bump into any issues like this, I recommend disabling the ‘Enable TCF’ setting in Complienz's settings.

Thanks Ryan. Are there any plans to allow managing advertising consent outside of the Journey CMP?

HI Wojciech Wysocki ! We don't currently have plans for this so we can ensure all sites are 100% compliant for the display advertising portion of GDPR. We appreciate the feedback, though!

Thanks Rachel! I believe that all sites are 100% compliant if it comes to the advertising portion of GDPR thanks to the Journey script.
But it's not the only part that some of us need to take care of to be fully compliant (with the remaining, non ad related cookies etc).
I can only assume that the Journey script was created to cover most of the cases and be as easy to implement as possible but that leaves some of us with non-optimal UX, meaning:
1. with more than one cookie pop-up (!), when it could be combined in one (ie. when given slightly more control over the script with parameters etc)
2. with more than one place to manage cookie consent later, when it could be managed in one place if only pt 1 would be possible
3. with the Privacy Policy looking like one big chunk of copy/paste material from all over the internet. It would be great to have:
a) the ability to control advertising portion of cookies in other CMPs like Complianz to get rid of “the double pop-up issue”
a) more control of where div: “mediavine-gdpr-button” aka: Update Privacy Settings is being displayed
b) more control of where the whole Privacy Policy is being injected (currently it's added to the bottom of the page)If all of that is possible already please direct me towards the solution but from what I've searched so far non of the above is possible currently.

Hi Wojciech Wysocki ! Without the Journey CMP, we wouldn't be able to guarantee all sites are 100% compliant with the display advertising portion of GDPR. Currently, we require use of the Journey CMP and don't have a way to move the Update Privacy Settings or privacy policy language location on Journey sites, but we've noted your feedback and will pass it along!

Thanks! So the only way for you to guarantee that it's 100% compliant from your end when managing it in other CMP would be to have a full integration with those CMP plugins or allow to manage all cookies in Journey CMP but I doubt that you'd like to become another CMP plugin on the market.
If it comes to integrations, I've seen something being discussed here when it comes to Mediavine but it seems it ended up in a dead end. It would be awesome to try such integration out first on Journey as it's still in beta and maybe later push to Mediavine? What do you think?
