This is a great question! You're likely seeing this ad the most because it's one of our ads that display when ad spend is low on a particular user. Often times as the publisher, you'll see these ads often because you're on your site more often than most and premium ad spend is used up in the first few pageviews. Without premium spend you get served low quality ads. If your readers do sign up for Grow, we gain more information on them as a reader, so we can leverage higher ad spend. So they don't get less ads, they get likely a variety of ads, and you get paid more for them!

I'm in the same boat… I'm curious… I'm new to Journey since my acceptance last week. Will these ads appear until a reader signs up? Or, will companies start ads on my site with premium spend? I'm confused…Cheers and super happy to be on with all of you!

Patrick The placeholder ads can appear whether a reader is signed up for Grow or not, but a reader that isn't signed up for Grow can still be served normal ads too.

Ultimately, like Karla said, you'll be served these ads if ad spend is low for you, but that doesn't mean that anything is broken or not working correctly. Ad spend could be low due to how often you visit the site, your location, detected cookies, and a host of other factors. So seeing the Grow placeholders on your end isn't uncommon given the nature of programmatic advertising.

    Thanks!

Hi there, are there any future plan in Journey for publishers to set their own fallback ads in case there's no bids? It could be used to promote other sections in the publishers site.

Journey is Self Supported

Our support staff is monitoring this forum everyday for bugs related to ad delivery, the display and functionality of the Journey dashboard, and any bugs related to the onboarding process. We are typically unable to assist with non-bug related issues like RPM performance expectations, issues setting up the ads.txt file, and questions already answered by our existing help docs. Read here for a more detailed breakdown of how Journey is self-supported and our recommendations for how to find answers to common issues.
