Avast/AVG Warning Popup
AnsweredI have just installed ads onto my website. Now every time I visit the site using chrome or safari I get a warning popup that says: "Multiple web threats secured. We've blocked a threat URL: Blacklist on https://scripts.adsbymediavine.com/sync/check from being downloaded. What do I need to do to get this fixed? Thank you.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to follow up and let everyone know we've reached out to both Avast and AVG to request removal from their blacklist. If they'll work with us to help clear it up, we'll be happy to work with them.
However I did want to mention that neither of these companies reached out to us about any issues they had found and we've heard from no source that Journey ads cause any issues related to malware or viruses or even are susceptible to causing it. So we're confident that this is not a security concern and we are reaching out to remove those false flags.

Hi Amber! This URL shouldn’t be malicious or download to your computer, so you can feel free to whitelist it in Avast to get rid of that pop up.

I am not worried about this pop up on my own computer. I am worried because I don't want all the visitors coming to my site to see this popup and then leaving because it doesn't look safe. The popup didn't start until after installing ads. What can be done to make sure that my visitors don't have this warning when they come to my site?

Hi Amber! This pop up will only happen for readers using Avast Web Shield, and it looks like it's just a false flag from Avast since no scripts will actually download. It's very common to see this type of warning on pages running ad scripts when using a blocker like this. This ultimately should be a very low percentage of users, though, and likely only for those with an aggressive level of security configured.

I am experiencing the same issue, and it does raise concerns for me. I never had this issue when I ran google ads. Is this something that the Journey team can submit to Avast so they can add it to their global whitelist (or remove it from being blacklisted) so users (and creators like me) are not affected?

Hi John! Thanks for reaching out. We actually have contacted Avast to let them know this is not a malicious URL, and if you're able to report it to them as well that could absolutely be helpful. As Rachel mentioned, this would only affect readers who are locally running Avast, so it's likely not a widespread issue. Hopefully, though, they'll be able to get it allowlisted soon. Thanks!!

Hi, I've also seen this warning after starting with Journey and agree with Amber and John that it doesn't look great for visitors to my site, however small the percentage it might affect.
For me, it's appearing via AVG not Avast, although I believe they're owned by the same company now(?). In case anyone else would like to report the false positives, here are two links to the relevant forms. Thanks.
