Google Analytics 4, also known as GA4, is Google's updated analytics service that measures your traffic and user engagement.
If you don't have a GA4 property set up in your Google Analytics dashboard, don't worry! You can easily set up a GA4 tag following the instructions in this article from Google.
Steps to connect your GA4 property to the Mediavine dashboard
- You’ll want to log into your Grow Publisher Portal and go to Grow Settings > Integrations > Connect Your Google Account
- A window will pop up asking you to sign in. You’ll want to make sure you select the Google Account that is tied to your GA4 tag that is actively embedded on your site.
-
Check off the "See and download your Google Analytics data" box, then click "Continue"
- You’ll now select the GA4 property/profile that is connected to your site.
*If you don't see any options in the dropdown menu, double-check you are using the correct Google Account and make sure a GA4 property is set up and active on your site. If you do see options but can't select them, double-check that the property you're trying to choose matches the domain you’re trying to connect to.

How do I know if I’m using Grow Analytics or GA4?
If your site is running on GA4, you’ll see “Traffic Data From Google” in the upper right-hand corner of the Analytics tab on your Grow Publisher Portal.
If your site is running off Grow Analytics, you’ll see a banner above the Welcome message in your Analytics tab and it will say “Traffic Data from Grow” in the right-hand corner.
Can I go back to running Grow Analytics instead of GA4?
At this time, you can only use either Grow Analytics or GA4. Once you’ve made the switch to GA4, you won’t be able to switch back to Grow Analytics.
