With Shopify, there is an option to setup a redirect, which is preferable since you will not need to keep manually updating this file after you’ve set it up the first time.
Log Into Shopify.
From your admin dashboard:
- Click "Online Store"
Click "Navigation"
Click "URL Redirects" in the top right corner
Click “Create URL Redirect”
In the "Redirect From" input, enter: /ads.txt
In the "Redirect To" input, you’ll want to put in your ads.txt url. You can get this url in the Ads.txt step of your Journey dashboard. Just click the ‘Copy URL’.
Paste this url into the ‘Redirect to’ box in Shopify. It should looks similar to this: https://adstxt.adstxtapp.com/sites/abc12345cc6789cc6789ccc/ads.txt
Click "Save Redirect".
Navigate to ‘yourwebsite.com/ads.txt’ and see if your Journey ads.txt file is present here.
Your ads.txt file should look similar to this (subject to change):
If it is, you should be all set.
If you are not seeing a file at all, go back to the redirect you just created to double check for any misspelling or typos.
If you are seeing a different ads.txt file, please go through your existing redirects under the ‘URL Redirects’ page and make sure that you don’t have any existing /ads.txt redirects setup.
If you do, please make sure to remove those. Once you have removed any existing/old ads.txt redirects, try navigating to ‘yourwebsite.com/ads.txt’ and see if your Journey ads.txt file is present here.
If you’re still not seeing this, please reach out to Shopify support to assist you with adding in this redirect for you.
