I cannot get past the "We can’t seem to find your Ads.txt file" during onboarding. Please help!
Hello,
I began the onboarding process yesterday and I cannot get past the “We can’t seem to find your Ads.txt file” error no matter what I do. Can someone please help me? Here is what I have done so far:
1. I was able to manually put the ads.txt for Journey on my site. My domain is www.littleseeds.ca so I tested the ads.txt for this domain and everything matches what journey requires.
2. I cleared all caches on the site, browser, plugins, and asked WordPress to clear the cache and they checked that there are no conflicting plugins. They said they can see the ads.txt is in the correct place and is reading clearly from their end.
3. I disabled and removed any previous ad code/plugins. I had Jetpack's WordAds previously and previously tried setting up for Google AdSense but never fully implemented it. All this has been cleared from the site.
4. I asked WordPress if they would whitelist Journey by MV and they said they cannot do this for security reasons. However, they suggested that Journey email them at help@wordpress.com. They said they would like “to discuss how their (Journey's) crawler works and how it approaches the site. Once we understand more about their setup and process, we can then look at what next steps might be possible from our side”.
WordPress needs:
- The crawler’s IP ranges
- How frequently the crawler accesses sites
- What endpoints it requests (e.g., ads.txt)
- Confirmation that it respects robots.txt
Once they have this information, they can whitelist Journey's crawler so it can read my ads.txt file and allow me to complete onboarding.
Could you please reach out to WordPress.com with these details? I’m unable to proceed until this step is completed.
Thanks in advance for any help!
****UPDATE: It wasn't working because of an Ads Manager plugin that was running. I uninstalled that and now I am up and running.
