RPMs Drop with High Traffic

I had an avg RPM of $44 August 12 September 30th. October I had September - October they went down to $15. Currently they are dipping as low as $10 RPMs on my highest traffic days ALL YEAR with over 2k pageviews on Sunday and a whopping $10 RPM I made a total of $13. This is unacceptable. This happened last year too and I'd like to hear an explanation as to why on my highest traffic days I am having my RPMs cut in half so I'm never making more money no matter how much traffic I get?
