Significant drop in traffic plus failed Core Web Vitals

I’ve been up and running for a week and in that time the engagement shown on my Squarespace analytics and Google console has plummeted.  Today it’s showing a 10% drop in both visits and consequently Page views and similar for the past 7 days.  My US traffic has overtaken my home UK audience by the same amount. 

Not being very au fait with SEO I ran the issue through ChatGP which suggested, amongst other things, that I do a speed test which returned a Core Vitals Failure with FCP of 9.3s LCP at 13.9s and 49% Performance.  I understand that there is something called Lazy Loading that could help.  Any ideas please?
