Hi Lisa Garrett ! The way we determine ad frequency for these settings is by using a percentage of length along with several other factors. So depending on the length and format of a post, the number of ads could be roughly the same between certain density settings since it's based on percentages of length and sometimes the script can fit the same amount of ads within a specific length of content. The size of the device will also change the number of ads, since the narrower the page is, the longer the content will be which can result in more ads. I double checked your site and the settings are working as intended, but we appreciate this feedback and will pass it along!

    Hello,

I would like to follow up on this topic. Since I find there are too many ads in my posts, I have reduced my density to low. However, after several days and testing from different devices and accounts, I see that the ad density does not change.

As an example, I have an article with 2600 words and it displays 11 in-text ads + sidebar ad + footer ad. It was exactly the same when I had “optimal” as ad denstiy.

Could you please explain why and what to do to reduce (not eliminate) ads efficiently? Thank you very much!

Hi Esther Agudo ! The density settings are only for in-content ads, not sidebar or footer adhesion ads since we only serve one of these placements.

The best explanation is the one above in the official comment - the difference between number of ads between the density settings is ultimately going to depend on the length and format of the content since the settings are based on percentages. If you wanted to reduce the frequency even more, you could block off sections of content by adding an opening and closing <div> around the area you don't want ads to break into. Here's an article on how to do that.

I took a look at your site though and did notice a difference of 1 or 2 content ads between the optimal and low settings, so while this might not be the case on all posts, I can confirm the settings are working as intended.

    Thanks!
