Cookie Consent Popup

Hey guys. Loving the Journey platform so far!

I do have two questions though.

Does the cookie consent popup affect your website's rankings on Google due to people having to click on a button before viewing your website? I've seen a sharp decline in traffic since activating ads on my website, and I'm trying to figure out the cause. It might be completely unrelated to the consent popup, or the ads, but I would love to know your opinion on this.

Second question. Is there a way to have to make the consent popup less intrusive? I've seen many websites have theirs at the bottom of the website while still allowing people to interact with the website.

Hi Jan Pretorius – so glad to hear you're loving Journey!
The consent pop up will only show to EU traffic, and it wouldn't be the cause of a decline in traffic or rankings – it actually has a 93% opt in rate! Across Mediavine and Journey, there hasn't been a documented case of traffic or rankings loss being caused by ads or the consent pop up.
There's not a way to adjust the appearance of the consent form since users are required to set a preference in it to comply with GDPR regulations, and if users could still interact with the website without being required to set a preference, it could be ignored.
