Ads.txt is missing/out of date; is doing a redirect a good idea?
CompletedHey there,
I see that I am also getting the Ads.txt is missing/out of date error. I installed my Ads.txt manually as the Grow plugin for WordPress didn't work for me.
My host installed that Ads.txt for me so I asked if they could uploade the udpated file again. Now he asked “Given that they might change the file again over time, perhaps it's easier to add a redirect from /ads.txt on your site to this file?”
Is doing redirects recommended? Because I do imagine that re-uploading this file everytime there is an update could be quite a hassle, depending on how often we expect updated files.
If not, is there another easy way to solve this?
Thank you!

Hi Jem ! A redirect to the ads.txt file would be totally fine. Your host will want to set up the redirect from yoursitename.com/ads.txt to the URL you see under Journey Settings → Ads.txt → Ads.txt URL.

Nice, thanks Rachel!

I asked my host (Lightning Base) to do the re-direct for me….seems to be working so far. It was really frustrating constantly having to update my ads.txt file on a daily basis. I hope this solves the problem. I am strictly a content writer…don't want to do anything technical, since that is not my field (which is why I use Wordpress, of course)

The redirect does look like it's working, so you shouldn't have to worry about manually updating the ads.txt file moving forward.

That is the best news I have had all month. Wish I had known sooner, but better late than never!

I want to do this, but my host says I need to use a redirection plugin. I'm not super technical, but I am trying. I've had my host update my ads.txt file multiple times today and it still shows outdated.
Now I'm trying to set up the redirect. I think I set it up correctly, but still showing as out of date. Can we check to see if it is actually updated?
my website is thebensonstreet.com

Hi Emily Holverson ! I don't see the ads.txt redirect on your site – I just see the manually installed file at yoursitename.com/ads.txt, but it looks like your ads.txt file is showing as up to date in your dashboard now so you should be good to go. Thanks!

I really wish this problem could be solved….I constantly get the ads.txt missing or out of date message…..surely something can be done for non-tecchies such as me.

Hi Ahana Thakur ! There was an issue with some ads.txt files showing a false out of date status over the weekend, but it should now be resolved now if you go into your Journey settings in your dashboard and click the “Refresh” button above the Ads.txt section.
Thanks!
