Ads.txt Missing/Out-of-Date Repeatedly
AnsweredHey,
My site, AquAnswers.com, repeatedly gets disconnected or atleast issues an error while looking at Journey analytics stating Ads.txt Missing/Out-of-Date. The initial set up was rough even though I am using a wordpress site. The plugin did not have an error but even though the said the ads.txt file was updated, it never truly was, so I eventually had to make the update manually. Now, almost everytime I check the analytics page I am prompted with the aforementioned error. Any thoughts? Also, could this be related to why the GA4 session count and Journey session count are different?
I do see a few things being blocked/erroring on the site while in developer tools:

Plus a few more…
Could these be related to the current issues?
Thanks,
H

Hi there! The console errors shouldn't be causing this issue with the ads.txt file. CORS and 404 errors are relatively common with programmatic advertising and not cause for any alarm -- in general it's normal to see ad chatter in the console, but it doesn't mean that anything is broken or ads aren't working correctly.
It's hard to say what's happening here since I'm seeing the ads.txt file on your site and don't see any errors in your dashboard at the moment. The majority of the time if the dashboard periodically says it's missing though, it's due to a firewall or security setting blocking crawlers from the site. You could reach out to your host and have them make sure the ads.txt file is allowlisted from any security or firewall features, as well as take a look at any security plugins you may be running and adjust settings as needed.
Hope this helps!

Hey, sent your response to my host service and it seems they had to set up a symlink due to where they host the ads.txt file being non-standard which hopefully should fix the issue. Would this by chance have anything to do with the session count issue? I am seeing a difference in session count between journey and GA4.
Thanks,

Great to hear! And sessions in GA4 are going to be different from sessions in Journey because they track sessions differently. That said, there's a bug with tracking EU traffic currently that could result in lower sessions. You can find out more information about this here in another thread!
Also, reporting for today is delayed -- our engineers are looking into it, but not seeing data for yesterday is to be expected at this point. They should hopefully have a fix out soon.
