Ads appearing in the middle of lists

Why are ads appearing in-between list items?  I was under the impression that ads would not appear between list items like this, or am i mistaken. Is there a way to prevent this or is this standard practise?
I attached the screenshot of what I am seeing:

    Hi Patricia! Thanks for reaching out. Yes, ads in lists are intentional and standard practice, and there isn't currently a setting to remove them. They're great for ad performance, especially on sites that have a good amount of bullet pointed and/or numbered lists.
