Can I run another network on my subdomain?
AnsweredHello
I have a problem with ads.txt. My site has multiple subdomains and runs AdSense. However, during Journey installation of ads.txt, AdSense notified me that ads.txt was not found. So, what I did, I just added my adsense ads.txt inside ads.txt together with Journey, but after some hour, Journey notified me that there was an issue with ads.txt.
Hope you can fix this, since only my main domain is using Journey and subdomains are not automatically added in monetization like adsense.

Hi Alvin,
For Journey ads to work on the main site, you would need to remove the ad sense code and make sure that the ads.txt matches the one in your onboarding exactly. Journey requires exclusivity, so you would need to remove other ad scripts on the domain where Journey ads are running. If we can answer any additional quesitons or if I'm misunderstanding your concern here, please just let us know. Thanks!!

I knew it, but I mean is, I can't use adsense on my subdomains, because it requires ads.txt. I am ok if I can't run adsense on my main site, but not ok with my subdomains. However, if I inserted the google adsense txt in ads (ads.txt journey) a status appearabout ads.txt problem.
I hope you get my point. Exclusivity requires only my main site, right? But since I can't add adsense ads.txt on journey, I can't use my other subdomains.
Thank you.

Hi Alvin. Thanks for getting back to me. So the exclusivity requirement actually extends to the entire domain - running other programmatic advertising on subdomains would actually not work here. So you would need to remove the existing ad scripts and make sure that ads.txt on the root domain matches.
Depending on the markup and layout, it could be possible to run Journey ads on the subdomains as well if you get the Journey and Grow scripts added there. If we can answer any additional questions, just let us know. Thanks!!

Ok, thank you. I thought I can use the subdomain with AdSense, since my main domain is only running with Journey.

Hello.
I would like to bring up this topic again. As seen from this article, Google allows using ads.txt on subdomains https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/9785052?hl=en . I would like to hear Journey's opinion on this matter.
What if the ads.txt file is hosted on a subdomain?
Google crawls and enforces ads.txt files placed on subdomains, where one exists, and is referenced from the ads.txt file on the root domain.
To reference a subdomain in your root domain ads.txt file, you add a
subdomain=declaration. For example, let's say your ads.txt file for
example.comneeds to reference the subdomainsubdomain.example.com. You add this line to your root domain ads.txt file:subdomain=subdomain.example.com.We understand the need for exclusivity, but this question arises from the simple desire not to sever the connection between the site and AdSense in case we want to return to AdSense later. Since getting re-approved by AdSense might be difficult, we simply don't want to lose this connection.
Thank you.

Hi Andrei ! Having AdSense ads.txt lines present can affect overall ad spend on your domain. This Google article is a help doc for if you wanted to add an ads.txt file to a subdomain, and we also allow ads.txt and ads to run on subdomains - it would just need to be the Journey ads.txt file and ad script. Ultimately using AdSense or any other programmatic ad services on the subdomains isn't allowed, since exclusivity extends to the entire domain.
Thanks!
